We’re making waves with clean, healthy energy drinks that are better for you and the planet.

Bad Mermaid was created as an alternative to traditional energy drinks. The formula is built without taurine, synthetic stimulants, or artificial additives common in the category. Instead, it relies on oceanic superfoods, natural minerals, and functional ingredients to support sustained energy without the crash.
The name came from an unfiltered moment of imagination, a reminder to build without overthinking or following category rules. That instinct shaped the brand early on, while the product itself was built with intention. Sea moss and sea salt form the foundation of the formula, chosen for their mineral density and functional benefits.
As the business evolved, leadership and focus sharpened. Today, Bad Mermaid is female-led, supported by a team that has been involved since the beginning and remains aligned on execution, discipline, and scale. Bad Mermaid is a vibe, but it’s also a choice. Clean energy, sourced differently, and built to move beyond the can.

Get to know our brand ambassador. This siren is beautiful with an edge and endlessly alluring.

Like the tide leaves its mark on the shoreline, Karen's journey has carved a unique path through the landscape of wellness and media. As Bad Mermaid's co-owner and Brand Ambassador, she navigates the currents between traditional success and deeper purpose.
The early waters of her career flowed through fitness modeling, where she made waves in health publications before the current pulled her into broader channels – national campaigns, television, and a landmark moment as Playmate of the Year in 1998. Interesting how life's currents shift: her voice found new depths in sports radio, while her pen charted courses through lifestyle columns.
Her presence rippled across the publishing world in unexpected ways. She became the first woman to grace Men's Fitness's cover. The disruption continued through Men's Journal (one of few solo female covers), while publications like Muscle & Fitness HERS, Ironman, Pro Source, and various lifestyle magazines carried her insights on health, beauty, and the art of vibrant living.
These days, Karen's journey has found its true bearing with Bad Mermaid, where she channels her vanguard wisdom into something deeper than surface level success. She shows us how exploring wellness from various angles can converge into a mission that nourishes not just bodies, but spirits.
